VHY Textiles  |  THC Hawaiian Textiles

Conrad Von Hamm moved to Hawaii in 1890 at the age of 20 from Bremen, Germany. He worked as a clerk for Alexander Young, a successful local businessman originally from Scotland. He eventually married Young's daughter and formed a partnership with his father-in-law and brother-in-law Archibald to create Von Hamm-Young Corp.

When Alexander died in 1910, and Archibald in 1925 Conrad took over the business. He expanded it exponentially, selling everything from textiles, wholesale, machinery, and automobiles. They were the first used car dealership in Hawaii. In 1964, Von Hamm began to produce fabric under the name The Hawaiian Corporation, Hawaiian Textiles.

Von Hamm died in 1965, and the company was split up in a stock market battle. Many of the sub-companies merged to form Hawaii's first conglomerate. It later overreached itself and was carved up from bankruptcy liquidation.

Any fabrics with the VHY tag is from the 1950-60's. Anything with THC was produced in the 1960's-70's.
